VALERIA FLORENCIO   NEWS AND EVENTS

Orpheus in the Underworld – Role of Diana

At the Opéra de Nice, Valéria Florencio embodied the goddess Diana in Jacques Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld, a role where dance, theatre, and humor intertwine with dazzling energy. Behind the scenes of this joyful and virtuosic production, a tender secret added depth to the performance: a small life was already growing within her. Every Menuet and French cancan step was danced with care — a balance of strength, grace, and the quiet wonder of early motherhood.

"MUSETTA  TAKES A GROWING PLACE IN MY HEART "

Valéria Florencio made her true operatic debut at the Opéra du Rhin in Strasbourg in the dazzling role of Musetta — a character both frivolous, charming, and deeply endearing. With natural stage presence and refined vocal artistry, she brought this iconic figure from La Bohème to life with captivating ease.

The audition for the role was arranged by her agent at the time. On that day, snow had blanketed the city of Strasbourg, and Valéria, ever resourceful, had tucked her socks into her boots to avoid slipping. The snow brought her luck — she left the audition with the role.

The local press and Opéra Magazine were unanimous in their praise, hailing her as a “flawless and frivolous Musetta.”A role that seemed tailor-made for her, marking the true beginning of her professional operatic journey.

Valeria Florencio in Maderna’s Satyricon – Role of Criside

Valeria Florencio returns to the Opéra National de Nancy for a new series of performances, beginning with the reprise of her acclaimed role as Criside in Georges Lavaudant’s production of Bruno Maderna’s Satyricon.

Loving, sensual, magnetic — her interpretation of Criside left a lasting impression, particularly in the unforgettable “quartet of love”, a moment suspended in time, made all the more powerful by Maderna’s notoriously complex musical writing.

This revival marks the beginning of a European tour with the Opéra National de Nancy, including prestigious performances in Ghent, Antwerp, and Brussels.
